lightbulb!

i've had some lightbulb moments this week

like on Sunday...

as my blog follower
you know
i love
words
stories
analogies

i desire to capture
stories i want to remember forever
stories that might inspire someone else
as they did for me
to find the right words
to weave through emotions
that are sometimes stuck deep within

i have piles of my kids writings that i've saved
fun to see what they choose to write about
and how they tell the story

i treasure writings from my parents
email exchanges
that i save

i enjoy reading annual Christmas letters
and daily facebook newsfeed status updates
it all helps me to walk closer beside
your life journey
and you with mine

so getting back to Sunday...
pastor K made reference to how the Bible
is God's letters
i've heard that before
many times
but
it finally sunk in
after 36.5 years
am i reading the Bible daily to stay connected
like i do with facebook?
am i searching the Bible for the nuggets in the stories
like i do with the blogs i follow?

as a blogger i don't share every story
that's not feasible
but there are reasons
why i'm prompted to share the ones i do
likewise i am more convinced than ever
there are specific reasons
why God included in the Bible the stories that He did

even the family lineage stories
which i've always skipped over as boring
and irrelevant...

i really like to play Dutch bingo in this town!
it's important to me to understand
how people are connected
it gives context
perhaps the Bible lineage chapters
are important
to better understanding the stories

Job 23:12 says
I have treasured
the words of his mouth
more than my daily bread

Luke 2 states
Mary [mother of Jesus]
treasured up all these things
and pondered them in her heart

so tonight i conclude with snippets of an email exchange
that i treasure
that i hope my sons read
and reread many years from now
to know how my heart felt today

Carver is asking for the opportunity to see Davis at school.

I don’t want this to be disruptive for Davis.
But, I think it is important for Carver to know and understand and see where Davis is just once briefly.
To see who Davis’ teacher is, what his room looks like, and to know that he is in good hands.

Carver is very proud of the fact that Davis is at “his” school.

I’m not sure if there is some underlying concern or what.  We have assured Carver that we spent 2 hours at school last week and there is a great plan and caring people there to provide a safe and supportive environment for Davis.  In his head he knows that.  But I think his heart will feel better if he can see that.

I’m going to leave it up to you all to figure out the best way to accommodate Carver’s wish without disrupting the preschool environment.

At breakfast this morning I committed to Carver that I would connect with the 4 of you today.
Mission accomplished for me.

We will absolutely do this!  It is not a problem at all.  I will ask [Carver teacher] to bring/send Carver down during the morning tomorrow.  It will be much easier if he comes down to our room!  That way I can meet him, and show him around a little bit!  Bless his heart for being so concerned!  When Carver was walking down the hall yesterday, he slowed down past our room to see if Davis was in here---it was after they had already gone home for the day.  I will talk to [Carver teacher] today, and we'll get it set up!  Thanks for the email!

Also, Davis is having a GREAT day today!!  He is listening to directions, and redirecting very easily!  We haven't had any scratching today, or pulling things off of the wall.  He sat so well during circle time!  I'm so proud of him--way to go Davis!!  Have a great day!

I brought Carver down to see Davis around 10:50 this morning. When I told Carver we were going to go visit Davis he got the BIGGEST smile on his face - it was so precious! We walked down and Davis was just as excited to have Carver in his room :) [Davis teacher] was reading a story to the class, so we let Carver sit down with Davis and finish the story with him and then stay for a little video they were watching. Carver has been beaming ever since. I told him that Davis is very lucky to have such a caring and kind brother!

and the mom heart sings
and the mom eyes drip

and i will forever read the Bible differently

  1. Your Carver is a very rare, precious gem. I adore him. His heart is huge and open to what is going on around him. He is going to do mighty things with all the love he has to give.
