new preschool

the words for this post haven't come easy

i think because i can't quite settle
on which emotion i'm feeling

the AEA evaluation is complete
last week we received the report in the mail
in advance of our meeting
at the school on Friday

the evaluation starts out with Davis' strengths
and i smile and nod in agreement
as i read
then
get through all the red-tape
required verbiage
looking for the snippets
of treasured words about Davis
...
he is unique
and does require
and qualify
for special services

and i cry at the validation
and i rejoice
that it's obvious enough
that he qualifies for help!

crying
excitement
crazy

the meeting at the school on Friday
was AWESOME
so affirming
a fabulous team
of caring educators
and healthcare providers
from both AEA and the school

and today Davis started preschool
we at breakfast as a family
and will continue to
Monday-Thursday
since now we all have places to go
he has class 8:30a-11:20a

i am so grateful
he qualifies
and yet somewhat sad
that he qualifies

just can't quite describe
the emotions
yet
Friday i was giddy with excitement
today
i maybe just have a case of the mondays

in other Davis updates,
he did have a seizure between Christmas & New Years
aggravated by the puking flu

we continue to decrease his meds
every other week
and are currently down to 5.0mls 2x/day
recall we started this journey at 8.0
so pleased with this direction

2nd opinion will be
Thursday, Feb 2
in Iowa City

  1. I do totally understand where you are coming from. This is not an easy path - the answers are nice to have but sometimes, ignorance IS bliss! My thoughts and prayers are with you as you begin this journey.
