this is the day, every day

yesterday was that day
tuesday, feb 19, 2013
where it was easy to say
"THIS is THE DAY the LORD has made
let us REJOICE and be GLAD in it!"

where my soul was signing the doxology
"Praise GOD from Whom all blessings flow!"

within 24 hours my father-in-law
had a miraculous positive turnaround
NO heart pump
NO ventilator
NO sedation
YES smiles! :)
YES we could hear his voice!

the entire mood in our family pack waiting area
was JOY

Lois was dressed in a happy pink color
her smile was radiating
she had taken a 45-minute power nap that afternoon
when i'm in a hospital setting
i'm often in awe at how God awesomely created us
the mind and body knows
when the environment has become "safe"
the adrenaline rush diminishes
and genuine peaceful rest is possible
even if it's snuggled on a glorified bench
with a bunched up coat for your pillow

i'm so grateful that i live close to family
so we have the easy option to physically be together
so we had the ability to honor each of our children's wishes
through this process
Avery went to basketball practice
Davis went to Grandma Sheryl's
--and had KFC supper with Great Grandma & Analu too
Carver skipped bball practice to be at the hospital with Lance & I

at the hospital Carver played several card games
with his highly competitive rival Great Grandma Boot

i was excited to see Bill and talk to him
Lance gave him a hard time that he needed a shave!
Bill smiled
fortunately prior to this emergency he had shaved off the big scruffy beard!
he told us that's what made him sick
--he obviously remembered that Lois had given him a hard time
about that scruffy beard harboring cooties ;)

back in the waiting area
we all laughed out loud
as Lois told the story of how she thought it was snowing yesterday
so heavily that the visibility was reduced to zero
...then realized that the windows were frosted glass

the thick tension from Saturday had completely vanished
we were together
and laughing out loud
all hearts beating full of JOY

a few other things i want to make sure i remember
the puzzle in the game closet
was ridiculously hard
a picture of an egg tray full of white eggs
that's like a bad joke
--seriously, who thinks to create and buy a puzzle like that?

abcdefg thank you God for feeding me

thursday we are expecting a snow-storm
Lois is well prepared
she plans to spend the day cross-stitching
a project she's been working on for a long while
the meaning of it even more significant now
a picture of The Garden of Promise by Thomas Kinkade
"I chose a garden with a rambling stone walkway
     climbing up through flower hedges
     to illustrate my tribute
to the hope many of us share
of the better times that lie ahead.
The garden I chose was a Garden of Promise." — Thomas Kinkade

finally i conclude with a special note about Lois
she has easily identifiable hand-writing
all of her kids are often recipients of her little squares of note paper
that keep us all informed of scheduled family events
this past week hasn't gone as written on her calendar
or noted on her square pieces of paper
and when i saw this quote
it exemplified what i've seen in her
Lois, "your anticipation of good outcomes
in the midst of hard times
is a profound form of trust." --Dear Jesus by Sarah Young

yesterday it was easy for me to say THIS is the day
the Lord has made, and to rejoice and be glad in it!

thank you Lois for living a life
that shows that every day is the day the Lord has made
Thursday, Friday, Saturday... all the way through Tuesday, Wednesday
I've been inspired by your trust in God's promises thru all circumstances

every day is the day the Lord has made,
