battery analogy

i just have to share

note - it's becoming common for me to blog in phases :)

my van had a dead battery this morning
initial thought was to scream, "SERIOUSLY?! not FUNNY!"

but it's instead provided many wonderful analogy thoughts for me today
maybe it will prompt some for you too

van will not start
clearly a dead battery
plenty of gas in the tank
but no spark
lights in the back are on
apparently have been on since Sunday night
slowly draining the battery
didn't notice any issue Monday
or Tuesday
but no spark left by Wednesday morning
electronic memory and clock were erased
needed a jump start
but the rear door wouldn't even open
so we had to climb through the van over the seats
to get the cables
then you can't just jump start and drive 3 miles to work
that's not long enough to recharge
otherwise i'll have just enough spark to get there
and it'll need to be jumped again
and on and on and on
so i took the long way to work
clean air on the open highway
so it has enough time to recharge
and just like that a simple 3-minute commute
became 30 minutes
*don't lose your spark*

and another kudos to my heroic husband, Lance
who taught me how to open and prop the hood
connect the portable jumper cables
red then black
in case this happens again
(he won't have to come and rescue me)
everything i know about cars i've learned from him
including
an interesting little fact
there is an arrow on your dashboard
that tells you which side of the vehicle your gas tank is on
what an exciting revelation that was for me!
*celebrate the simple things*
love that man
he takes great care of me
and our sons
and dog
and cats
:)

"Eat a live frog every morning,
and nothing worse will happen to you
the rest of the day."
-Mark Twain
