end of Sunday thoughts...

i'm over analyzing how to title posts - so for this one i went with the obvious

message this morning was from Genesis 28 - the promise of His presence
Jacob was a young fugitive, a vulnerable weary traveler, with a rock for his pillow
the time was RIPE for a HORRIBLE NIGHTMARE, but God granted him a WONDERFUL DREAM!

Psalm 3:5
I lie down and sleep;
I awake again, because the LORD sustains me.

note - www.biblegateway.com one of my favorite websites

i have always been blessed with the ability to sleep well - through the night, afternoon naps - i fall asleep quickly anytime anywhere. and we have been blessed with sons who are also great sleepers. it's a gift we often take for granted. i find myself wishing i could share that gift. i pray Psalm 3:5 for you who need physical and/or mental rest!

and as i blog you'll learn that pieces of lyrics pop into mind for me frequently - i find it part of God's way of regularly speaking to me

as we received the closing blessing this morning, the lyrics that came to mind were "...may Your glory shine..."
which led me to think of this scripture:
Nehemiah 9:19
Because of your great compassion you did not abandon them in the wilderness. By day the pillar of cloud did not fail to guide them on their path, nor the pillar of fire by night to shine on the way they were to take.

there are those seasons in life where we need God to be that obvious 24 hours a day. scripture assures us that's totally possible!

on less inspirational notes
- my family survived whole wheat spaghetti for lunch (as they are forced along on my quest towards personal health) - which C said "looks like supper"
- A&C minimized their bickering long enough that a Sunday afternoon nap was possible for me
- i often find myself rooting for the underdog in sports. i had to ask who VCU was :)
- C talked my ear off as we headed uptown for a spontaneous mother-son date to see Gnomeo & Juliet
- A. was glued to March Madness
- D. favorite response to most questions is YeSS! (or dramatic pouting as his negative response)

another note - boys have finally learned that we don't attend any movie without mom first reading about it on www.pluggedin.com - hence the reason we saw "Mars Needs Moms" rather than "Rango" a few weeks ago

we are once again climbing Mt. Laundry - rarely seeing the view from the top

tomorrow i begin c25k week 8

closing with another favorite quote:
May the Lord walk beside you to comfort you.
May the Lord walk above you to watch over you.
May the Lord walk behind you to keep you safe.
May the Lord walk before you to show you the way.
