i'm just not coping very well today - with anything... fortunately this day will come to an end and tomorrow start fresh.

now it's 10 hours later
6:30A Monday, June 13, 2011

yesterday was one of those days
where a whole lot of little things
took over

and inside
i made the overwhelmingly long list
of my many life roles
then i did a self-assessment
and the report card didn't look like i wanted it to

no 360 assessment was necessary
i was being hard enough on myself
but from the mouth of our babe (aka Davis)
half-way through the day
he provided these unsolicited words of affirmation
"mom, you an ogre"
i have seen all 4 shrek movies - multiple times
and the many ogre quotes came flooding to my mind
Shrek: Back off!
Donkey: YOU back off!
Shrek: This is MY swamp!
Donkey: OUR swamp!
Shrek: Let go, Donkey!
Donkey: YOU let go!
Shrek: Stubborn jackass!
Donkey: Smelly ogre!
Shrek: ...Fine!

Hebrews 12:1
[Discipline in a Long-Distance Race] Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we'd better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we're in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he's there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!

‎"Running is a big question mark that's there each and every day. It asks you, 'Are you going to be a wimp or are you going to be strong today?'"
- Peter Maher, Canadian marathon runner

"We run, not because we think it is doing us good, but because we enjoy it and cannot help ourselves...The more restricted our society and work become, the more necessary it will be to find some outlet for this craving for freedom. No one can say, 'You must not run faster than this, or jump higher than that.' The human spirit is indomitable."
-Sir Roger Bannister, first runner to run a sub-4 minute mile

‎"You have to wonder at times what you're doing out there. Over the years, I've given myself a thousand reasons to keep running, but it always comes back to where it started. It comes down to self-satisfaction and a sense of achievement."
- Steve Prefontaine
