without
any
anti-seizure medication
he was born 4/2008
his first seizure was 12/2008
he started the anti-convsultant
phenobarbital
7/2009
as the seizures
and the hospitalizations persisted
the anti-convulsant
keppra
was added
12/2009
and due to concerns with long-term side effects
and lack of effectiveness
the phenobarbital was phased out over 8 weeks
and keppra became the lone daily treatment
diastat was added for emergency use
every time Davis had a seizure
the keppra dose was increased
and every 3 months
we held him down for blood test
to monitor the medication level
and by 8/2011
Davis was taking 8ml of keppra 2x/day
a whopping total of
16ml of anti-convulsant every single day
was messing with his head
in good and bad ways
and today
the routine changes
no daily seizure medication
awesome
and we are currently 3.3 weeks seizure-free
and he is experiencing consecutive
"Great!" days at preschool
